Establishing and building graduate preparatory programs is a proven approach to creating an educational pipeline for Hispanic students into doctoral programs, particularly in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); however, it is a challenge to build these programs in a difficult budget climate. Presenters will discuss strategies and mechanisms to obtain funding support focused on broadening participation in higher education, with a particular focus on leveraging institutional resources and obtaining federal funding for these programs.
